There is documentary evidence of women coming together as long as 300,000 years ago to hear and support each other, sharing their experiences and wisdom. Sadly, in more recent times we have lost this vital connection.
The more detached we become as a society, the more we crave true, meaningful connection. Women’s circles are a gentle, but also powerful, space for us to share and learn.
Dorset Women's Circle
Inspired by my own experience of participating in a women’s circle on retreat each year, I now run a fortnightly Sunday group from my comfortable therapy loft in Dorchester.
Over the centuries we have lost the deeper connections, mutual support and sense of belonging that we used to experience within our tribes and communities. This can lead us to feel that something is missing in our lives which may manifest as a flatness, dissatisfaction, or sense of isolation or loneliness.
There is something about truly being seen and heard, by a group of fellow women, each with their own unique, but often familiar, struggles that can feel healing, empowering and liberating.
A typical circle includes a steaming mug of tea or chai, a grounding meditation, a check in on what is going on for us in our lives, perhaps some journaling, and a closing relaxation.
As a group we hold a safe, nurturing, judgement-free space for you to talk about anything from the day to day grind of life to more difficult, painful things that you may not be able to share with family or friends. Or perhaps you have an achievement or happy news to share. There is no pressure, however, to say anything, until you feel comfortable to do so. Also note that we will make an agreement within the group that anything said within the circle will be held in confidence.
Next one: Sunday 13th October 3 – 5 pm at Somerleigh Gate, Somerleigh Road, Dorchester
Cost: £20 per session. Please contact me to book your place.
